Eliza Jane is reading the Summer issue of Prims magazine to Serendipity, True Blue and Baird. They are all very excited to see themselves in print!

Serendipity is telling her siblings all about her travels to and from California and posing for photos at the Prims magazine offices.

All of the smaller bears pay rapt attention as Eliza Jane reads the story of how Baird, True Blue and Serendipity were born. It is their very favorite tale, for as all bears know, the very best stories are the true ones.

Once upon a time I made many, many bears like Miss Eliza Jane… now she is the last of her kind and lives in my studio to keep me company and remind me of her sisters.

Even though they are getting up there in years, the bears don’t always act their age… they can be quite wild and unruly and cause a great ruckus in the studio when I’m trying to work!
The newest issue of Prims magazine will be on sale tomorrow. The bears and I are quite thrilled to say that we have an article in the magazine. As you can imagine this has stirred up a bit of trouble in my studio. I hate to say it but all of the older bears are feeling a bit jealous… So to be fair, I’ve declared this to be bear restoration week. If you have a furry friend that could use a bit of sprucing up, you may want to follow along as I clean and repair some of the many bears that I have “rescued” from tag sales, flea markets and the like. Once they are looking their best, I’ll be posting the bears for sale, so that they can find loving homes. So check back later in the week if you’d like to read up on how to clean and restore antique teddies or feel that you have a place in your heart for a tried and true, well loved companion!

Hi Paula, what a great article on your bears in Prims Magazine. Very enjoyable. Mary G.
Thanks Mary! I had to write it last fall, one evening during the Izannah retreat. I was so focused on dolls at the time that it was hard to switch over to bears 🙂 I’m happy to know that you liked it, that must mean that it turned out OK!

H ello friends, some time ago I was asked to repair an “injured” bear for a lady in a Nursing Home. It was WW1 vintage and was filled with old silk stockings . It was covered with moth holes and its poor little eyes were loose. So I mended the holes, fixed the eyes and made him some rompers .and sent him home to Mother. She was ever so pleased and the bear now lives with her Great grandson’s family on his own chair in the sitting room . He was to have been renamed “George”but due to either bad writing or poor eyesight his name tag reads “Grudge” ( there has to be a joke in there somewhere”) LOL from Australia Mimosa Jane
Jane,
Lovely story and a very lucky bear to be so treasured. I used to do a lot of bear restoration, but don’t do quite as much of it these days. Things have been a bit hectic in my studio, so I’m still in the midst of cleaning and working on the bears in this story.

The first bear I ever made was a small mohair fully jointed bear called Alexander. I was so proud of him, but to my surprise he developed a personality quite different from his demure expression. One day he made it known to me ( in the way that bears uniquely do) that he was not happy being “just Alexander” but in fact fancied himself as someone far more exotic. He informed me that he was actually an international agent in the pay of an un named foreign power and he should be dressed accordingly. So he was given a purple cloak , a black beret and a satchel for his secret papers Now he calls himself Igor and terrifies all the dolls with threats of calling in his friends to “Interrogate them” I’ve created a Monster.LOandLol Mimosa Jane .
Beware Igor! 🙂
